ALBANY, N.Y. – The College of Saint Rose kept itself within striking distance, but could not overcome a stingy Franklin Pierce squad and thus fell 2-0 in Northeast-10 Conference action this afternoon at the Plumeri Sports Complex.
The Ravens (7-0-0/3-0-0 NE10), ranked #2 in the most recent United Soccer Coaches National Poll, posted its sixth clean sheet of the year and remained undefeated in the process.
Junior keeper
Ryan Henning recorded three saves for the Golden Knights (2-3-1/1-1-0 NE10), including a pair back-to-back at point blank range midway through the first period to keep the match close.
Offensively, freshman
Victor Boje Henriksen managed a pair of shots out of the back throughout the affair that was played at a relatively deliberate pace.
Franklin Pierce went up 1-0 with when freshman midfielder Vicente Valor Martinez converted a penalty kick with 12:48 expired. The Ravens then added their second marker in the final five minutes of the second period.
Looking ahead, both sides have 4:00 pm home conference matches Tuesday. The Golden Knights host New Haven, while the Ravens entertain #19 Le Moyne.
