ALBANY, N.Y. – The College of Saint Rose Golden Knight hosted Bridgeport tonight, with the Purple Knights earning the straight-set victory (18-25, 15-25, 15-25).
Senior middle blocker
Cassidy Smith recorded a team-high six kills for the Golden Knights (2-6). Freshman middle blocker
Karleigh Fripp added five kills, swinging at a .500 strike percentage. Entering tonight's match, Fripp ranked fourth among all Northeast-10 Conference players with a .346 hitting percentage. Junior libero Gabriela Boyrie paced Saint Rose defenisvely with seven digs.
Offensively, Bridgeport (4-3) showed extreme accuracy on attack attempts, as the Purple Knights had a .396 strike percentage and an average of 16 kills per set. Senior outside hitter Emily Buford registered a double-double with 13 kills and 13 digs.
Freshman setter Jaden Drollinger had a match-high 37 assists for Bridgeport. Drollinger began the night with an average of 10.08 assists per set, which topped all players in the East Coast Conference.
The Golden Knights return to Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium tomorrow for a 1:00 pm matchup with Nyack. It will be Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer Day. Bridgeport heads home to host Caldwell on Tuesday at 7:00 pm.
