NEW CASTLE, Del.. – The College of Saint Rose opened the Wildcat Invitational with a 3-0 loss (17-25, 21-25, 13-25) to Jefferson.
The Golden Knights and Rams battled through the early stages of the first set, with Saint Rose finally edging to its first lead of the opening frame at 13-12. The advantage for the Golden Knights would be short-lived, as Jefferson ended the set on a 13-4 run. Freshman outside hitter Jess Molen registered five kills in the Rams' first 25 points.
Saint Rose showed an increased energy to start the second frame, opening up a 13-9 lead on the undefeated Rams. But similar to the first set, all the late momentum belonged to Jefferson as the Rams finished on a 16-8 streak to claim the second set, 25-21. Jefferson kept their foot on the gas into the third set, jumping out to a 11-2 lead in an eventual 25-13 victory to clinch the match in straight-sets.

Emma Strefling added 14 assists.
Jefferson (7-0) was paced by Molen's 12 kills on the night. Freshman setter Kristine Guenther led all players with 35 assists. On the season, the Rams have won 21 of the 25 sets the team has played.Â
The Golden Knights return to the court on Saturday for a doubleheader of matches beginning at 11:30 am. against Chestnut Hill, followed by a 7:00 pm. tilt against tournament host Wilmington. Jefferson wraps up their Wildcat Invitational schedule against Franklin Pierce at 2:00 pm.Â
