GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – A seasoned Adelphi squad that features 11 players who are either seniors or graduate students proved too much for The College of Saint Rose as the 11th ranked and host Panthers (6-3/6-3 NE10) hit double-figures in both halves to upend the Golden Knights 23-4 in Northeast-10 Conference action tonight.
Â
Sophomore attack
Claudia Agostino had a goal and an assist to lead Saint Rose (1-10/1-10 NE10), which has faced a nationally ranked opponent throughout eight of its 11 games and has only one junior and no seniors on its roster.
Â
Freshman midfielder
Daria Bock, sophomore attack
Margaret Brent, and freshman attack
Kaitlyn Jolly also scored for the Golden Knights, while sophomore midfielders
Payton O'Hara and
Eileen Rattigan each set up a pair of strikes. Freshman goalie
Dorothy Gaffney came up with eight saves.
Â
Kole Pollock, a graduate student, and junior attack Christina McCabe scored four goals apiece to pace Adelphi.
Â
Going forward, the two teams are scheduled to play NE10 Championship first round divisional contests Friday. Seventh-seed Saint Rose will travel to second-seed Pace for a 7:00 pm meeting, while the third-seed Panthers will host sixth-seed American International at 4:00 pm.
