GOLDEN KNIGHTS FIRST FULL SEASON DRAWS TO A CLOSE WITH NE10 CHAMPIONSHIP OPENING ROUND SETBACK AT NATIONALLY RANKED PACE UNIVERSITY

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. –The College of Saint Rose scored six second half goals, but could not overcome a 10-goal halftime deficit in tonight's Northeast-10 Conference Championship first round encounter at 18th ranked Pace University. The Setters prevailed 20-8 to advance to the conference quarterfinals where they will host Adelphi on Monday.

"Although it wasn't the outcome we wanted, I'm so proud of how hard we were able to fight even late into the game. We had a lot of people step up across the board and that was great to see. They were supportive of each other and stayed unified until the end," said Head Coach Sarah Martin. "This season has been a great learning experience for our young team and I am very excited about the future of this program."

Sophomore midfielder Eileen Rattigan scored three goals and sophomore attack Margaret Brent scored twice and set up another to propel the Golden Knights (1-11) offense. Freshman attack Kaitlyn Jolly also scored a pair of goals, while freshman midfielder Daria Bock had a goal and an assist for a two-year-old Saint Rose program that was making its postseason debut following a shortened 2020 season.

In the back, sophomore defender Nicole Taveras caused three turnovers and sophomore midfielder Payton O'Hara triggered a pair of Pace (9-3) miscues. Freshman Dorothy Gaffney and sophomore Madeline Yeung made a combined six saves between the posts.

Meanwhile, senior midfielder Emma Rafferty and junior midfielder Kayla Conway scored nine goals collectively for the Setters who improved to 5-1 at home and represented the ninth nationally ranked opponent the Golden Knights faced this spring. Senior attack Carlyn Mucci contributed three goals and a like number of assists, while junior goalie Sienna Masullo registered nine saves.
