ADELPHI SCORES IN LAST INNING TO TAKE A PAIR FROM SAINT ROSE

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – Host Adelphi pushed across the winning run with one out in the last inning to complete a doubleheader sweep against The College of Saint Rose at Bonomo Memorial Field today. The Panthers (8-10/6-5 NE10) took the finale 2-1 on the heels of a 13-1 opening game victory.

Junior right fielder Tim Feliz belted a one out triple and one batter later beat the infield throw home to account for the game-winner. In the opener, Adelphi broke open a 2-0 contest by scoring four runs in the fourth.

Junior center fielder Zephaniah Vaughn and junior first baseman Jack McDonald had two hits apiece to lead the Golden Knights (3-10/3-10 NE10) in the first game. Sophomore second baseman Anthony Cipri finished 3-for-4 with three runs scored, while senior right-hander Nicolas Luc allowed a run on five hits throughout 7.0 innings of work to pick up the win for the Panthers.

Saint Rose senior shortstop Andrew Pedone started the second game by belting a home run over the centerfield fence on the way to a 3-for-4 effort at the plate. Junior right-hander Jared Restmeyer allowed a run and whiffed six in 5.0 innings of a no-decision outing. Feliz and Cipri had two hits apiece for Adelphi.

Looking ahead, the two teams are scheduled to conclude their four-game series with a 1:00 pm twin-bill Wednesday at Adelphi.
Notes: Pedone now has seven multi-hit games on the year…Junior designated hitter Francisco Infante has reached base in five straight.
