SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The College of Saint Rose dropped both ends of today's doubleheader at Northeast-10 Conference rival Le Moyne. The Golden Knights (2-6/2-6 NE10) were upended 10-1 in the nightcap and lost the opener 6-0 as senior left-hander Joe Vail tossed a no hitter for the Dolphins. In the process, Le Moyne (5-1/5-1 NE10) extended its win streak to four games.
Â
Junior first baseman
Jack McDonald belted a leadoff homer over the right field fence in the fourth to account for the Saint Rose run in the finale, in which Saint Rose stranded 10 runners on base. In addition, senior shortstop
Andrew Pedone finished 2-for-4 with a double.
Â
Center fielder Justin Tuey, a graduate student, went 2-for-4 with four RBI and a home run to pace Le Moyne.
Â
Looking ahead, the Golden Knights are scheduled to begin a four-game series against visiting New Haven Sunday and Monday. Both sets have noon start times from Bob Bellizzi Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex. Meanwhile, the Dolphins are scheduled to host Adelphi in a pair of twin-bills Saturday and Sunday.
