GOLDEN KNIGHTS DOMINATE CLARKSON

ALBANY, N.Y. – The College of Saint Rose controlled possession for two-thirds of the match and meticulously created dangerous chances on the offensive side to upend visiting Clarkson University 3-1 today.

"Today was a solid overall team performance against a very well organized Clarkson team. We created a lot of good scoring opportunities and had some good spells of possession. We look forward to getting back to training on Monday," said head coach John Ciano.

Following a scoreless first half, Saint Rose (4-1) got on the board courtesy of an own goal with 50:26 elapsed. Freshman back Victor Boje Henriksen then converted a penalty kick after sophomore forward Hilmar Halldorsson was pulled down in the area at the 67:41 mark.

Clarkson briefly made it interesting with 82:09 gone by when freshman midfielder Vander Hart one-touched home a thru ball off the right flank from fellow freshman midfielder Zachary Appel. However, Saint Rose countered just over a minute later when junior midfielder Filippo Bellú; collected a feed from freshman forward Erick Radtke, turned his defender at the 12-yard PK line and buried his ensuing shot home.

The Golden Knights (4-1) manufactured a 27-5 shot advantage, a 10-1 corner kick differential, and eight players generated at least one shot throughout the beautiful spring afternoon. Junior keeper Ryan Henning recorded a pair of saves, including one in the 63rd minute where he dove to his left to deny Clarkson senior midfielder Mack Walton who rifled a dangerous shot from 12-yards out.

Looking ahead, Saint Rose is scheduled to travel to Purchase, N.Y. Thursday for a 1:30 pm match at Manhattanville College.
