ALBANY, N.Y. - The College of Saint Rose junior defensive specialist Megan Mayer has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Elite 24 Award Winner for the 2020-21 women's volleyball season.
 
"I am honored to have received this award and to be recognized with fellow recipients who I know have put a lot of time and effort in both academically and athletically," said Mayer. "I wouldn't be in this position if it wasn't for my professors, teammates, coaches at Saint Rose and the support of my family."
 
The honor is usually presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average at the NE10 Championship Finals, but with the January cancellation of a repositioned fall season, the conference office granted the award to the student-athlete with the highest GPA in the league, in each of its seven fall sports.
 
"I am very proud of Megan and her hard work in order to win this award," said Head Coach Vanessa Volpe-Rivera. "Megan has incredible work ethic, both inside the gym and in the classroom, and is driven to be the best that she can be at everything she does. She is the true definition of what it means to be a student-athlete here at Saint Rose and I'm proud that she represents the volleyball program."
 
Mayer, a business administration major, serves as the co-chair of the Saint Rose Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). She was voted a captain of this year's team and has been named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll every semester.
