ALBANY, N.Y. - The College of Saint Rose erased a double-digit fourth quarter deficit, but was unable to get past the final hurdle in tonight's 58-50 loss to visiting American International in the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. Â

Becca Townes topped the Golden Knights (0-3) with 13 points, while freshman guard
Ryley Blasetti added 10.

"We got back in it in the fourth quarter with our defense and were able to execute to create wide open looks, but couldn't get over the hump. Tomorrow is another opportunity for us to gain from this experience and improve as a team," said Head Coach
Whitney Edwards.

American International, receiving votes in the latest D2SIDA national poll, had four players net twin figures. Senior guard Destine Perry led the way with 16 points.

Saint Rose charged out to an early lead on the Yellow Jackets (4-1), which last played on January 30th. The Golden Knights began the game on an 11-2 run to take a 21-10 lead with six minutes left before the break. American International found its footing late in the second period, using a 13-0 run to trail 26-25 at the half.

The visitors continued to take control in the second half, utilizing a 17-5 run spanning the third and fourth quarters to go up 13, 49-36, with 6:08 remaining. The young Golden Knights got back into it, using timely baskets and good defense to trail by four, 54-50, with just 1:45 to go. The late charge was highlighted by a three-point play by freshman guard/forward

That was as close as Saint Rose got though as a couple of Perry free throws sealed the AIC win.
