GOLDEN KNIGHTS RUN UNBEATEN STREAK TO THREE MATCHES WITH 2-0 VICTORY VERSUS SAINT ANSELM

ALBANY, N.Y. - The College of Saint Rose extended its unbeaten streak to three matches with today's 2-0 victory against visiting Northeast-10 Conference rival Saint Anselm.

The Golden Knights (4-4-2/3-2-1 NE10) scored in each half and freshman keeper Tomas Rozman recorded eight saves and helped direct a defensive unit that manufactured its third clean sheet this autumn.

Sophomore midfielder Josh Elliott continued to display his scoring acumen as he found the back of the net in his third straight contest with the game-winner at the 35:52 mark. Sophomore forward Nico Faretta delivered an insurance marker with 63:59 elapsed.

"Today was a solid team performance against a tough and organized Saint Anselm side. We scored two very good goals and managed the game well through our possession," said Head Coach John Ciano.

Saint Rose generated the game-winner in impressive fashion. Senior midfielder Oskar Aaströem struck a pass from the center of the pitch that Elliott collected in the area. Elliott pivoted left to turn his defender and fired his shot just inside the top-right post to make it a 1-0 affair at intermission.

In the second stanza, freshman midfielder Simon Schouby delivered a pass in stride to Faretta who was streaking down the left flank. Faretta made a quick move to his right before lining a shot far side from the top-left corner of the area.

In the back, Rozman was on point throughout the afternoon. He denied Saint Anselm (4-6-0/2-5-0 NE10) junior forward Jackson Bukant and junior midfielder Kevin Jordan who delivered consecutive dangerous strikes in the opening five minutes of the second stanza. He also turned aside freshman forward Victor Rodrigues who developed a dangerous opportunity in the game's final three minutes to keep the shutout intact.

Early in the match, sophomore back Nick Koenig rattled the left post to nearly afford Saint Rose a 1-0 advantage in the opening four minutes.

Overall, Saint Anselm created an 11-10 shot advantage and each squad developed three corner kicks.

The Golden Knights are off until next Saturday when they host Assumption at 4:00 pm. Meanwhile, the Hawks have 2:30 pm non-conference date at St. Thomas Aquinas on Tuesday.
Notes: There are 25 underclassmen listed on the Saint Rose roster…Seven different players have scored at least one goal this year…Rozman was named to the NE10 weekly honor roll Monday.
