#7 GOLDEN KNIGHTS SUFFER THEIR FIRST SETBACK OF THE SEASON

ALBANY, N.Y. – The College of Saint Rose suffered its first setback of the year with this afternoon's Senior Day 1-0 loss to Northeast-10 Conference rival Southern Connecticut State at Sullivan Field within the Plumeri Sports Complex.

The Golden Knights, ranked #7 in this week's United Soccer Coaches National Poll, generated a 17-7 shot advantage, including a 10-1 differential in the second half, that did not pay any dividends.

Instead, it was sophomore forward Emma McMurray of the Owls (6-7-2/5-5-2 NE10) who accounted for the game's lone goal with 32:15 expired thanks to the effort of senior midfielder Kaitlyn D'Amico. The latter dribbled up the left flank in traffic and delivered a horizontal pass to McMurray who lined her shot inside the lower left corner.

Saint Rose (11-1-3/8-1-3 NE10) responded by pressing forward throughout the final 45 minutes, but could not notch the tying goal.

Sophomore midfielder Tatiana Leggiero touched a feed near the goal line that forced Southern Connecticut State keeper Allie Smith to come up with a key save. Less than a minute later, sophomore forward Lauren Amerena sailed a strike just over the crossbar that foreshadowed how the afternoon would develop for the Golden Knights.

Smith was forced to come up with seven saves for Southern Connecticut State, while All-American keeper Marika Laurendeau recorded three stops, including one in the first half when she roamed off her line to rob D'Amico who dribbled in alone on a counter.

Going forward, both sides will close out their regular-season dockets with 7:00 pm league matches on Wednesday. The Golden Knights have a date at New Haven, while the Owls host Stonehill.
Senior Day: Alexus Boorse, Emilie Cisneros, Luisa Gaudl, Isabel Jayasinghe, Ciera Lundy, Taylor Gray, Madelyn McCarthy, and Elizabeth Gallagher, in addition to Laurendeau, were honored during a pregame ceremony in recognition of their outstanding collegiate careers.
Notes: The Golden Knights had allowed only one goal in their previous six matches entering today…They are 3-0-3 in overtime this fall…Laurendeau is second among NE10 keepers with a 0.44 goals-against-average on the strength of nine shutouts, the nation's second best mark…She stands third among the conference's leaders with an .868 save percentage…Junior midfielder Janina Mueller is tied for the league lead with six assists…Freshman forward Mia Klammer paces the conference with nine goals despite only playing 11 games…Saint Rose has outscored its 16 opponents 34-5…The Golden Knights sit atop the NE10 in scoring defense and are second in scoring offense, with a 0.43 team GAA and a 2.27 goal scoring average…Thirteen players have accounted for the 34 goals and 18 have figured in the scoring column…Laurendeau was named the NE10 Goalkeeper of the Week and Lundy was tabbed the Defender of the Week on Monday.
