ALBANY, N.Y. – The College of Saint Rose remained unbeaten with tonight's 0-0 draw against Northeast-10 Conference rival Adelphi on a cool 46 degree and damp evening at Sullivan Field within the Plumeri Sports Complex.
Â
The Golden Knights (11-0-3/8-0-3 NE10), ranked #7 in the most recent United Soccer Coaches National Poll, controlled possession for 56.0 percent of the match and generated a 9-4 shot advantage after intermission while limiting the Panthers (5-5-3/5-5-2 NE10) to only a few dangerous strikes. However, they could not come up with the game-winner in their sixth overtime contest of the year.
Â
Sophomore back
Sanna Rein, sophomore midfielder
Jen Bartlett, and freshman midfielder
Samantha Diaz each generated dangerous shots throughout the 110-minute affair.
Â
Rein headed a well-placed corner off the foot of junior midfielder
Theresa Durle with a mere 7:29 elapsed that Adelphi senior keeper Sarah Hofmeier was just able to deflect away with what turned out to be a key save. Bartlett then drove a shot from the middle of the area in the opening seconds of the second half that sailed just right.
Â
Midway through the first extra session, Diaz found herself in space on a counter after Rein stepped forward to prevent an Adelphi volley into the offensive third. Rein subsequently delivered a pass to junior midfielder
Janina Mueller in stride through the middle of the pitch. Muller then made a quick run before touching a pass through the left side of the area that put Diaz in space whose shot rolled just to the right of the far post.
Â
For Adelphi, sophomore back Kayla Mushorn provided perhaps the biggest scare for Saint Rose when she struck a ball with 11 minutes left in regulation that sailed just high.
Â
In goal, Golden Knights All-American keeper
Marika Laurendeau made three of her four saves after halftime on the way to her league leading ninth shutout of the season.
Â
Looking ahead, both sides have home conference matches Saturday. Saint Rose hosts Southern Connecticut State for Senior Day at 3:00 pm. Meanwhile, the Panthers take on Assumption at 4:00 pm.
