#7 SAINT ROSE PLAYS TO 0-0 DRAW WITH ADELPHI

ALBANY, N.Y. – The College of Saint Rose remained unbeaten with tonight's 0-0 draw against Northeast-10 Conference rival Adelphi on a cool 46 degree and damp evening at Sullivan Field within the Plumeri Sports Complex.

The Golden Knights (11-0-3/8-0-3 NE10), ranked #7 in the most recent United Soccer Coaches National Poll, controlled possession for 56.0 percent of the match and generated a 9-4 shot advantage after intermission while limiting the Panthers (5-5-3/5-5-2 NE10) to only a few dangerous strikes. However, they could not come up with the game-winner in their sixth overtime contest of the year.

Sophomore back Sanna Rein, sophomore midfielder Jen Bartlett, and freshman midfielder Samantha Diaz each generated dangerous shots throughout the 110-minute affair.

Rein headed a well-placed corner off the foot of junior midfielder Theresa Durle with a mere 7:29 elapsed that Adelphi senior keeper Sarah Hofmeier was just able to deflect away with what turned out to be a key save. Bartlett then drove a shot from the middle of the area in the opening seconds of the second half that sailed just right.

Midway through the first extra session, Diaz found herself in space on a counter after Rein stepped forward to prevent an Adelphi volley into the offensive third. Rein subsequently delivered a pass to junior midfielder Janina Mueller in stride through the middle of the pitch. Muller then made a quick run before touching a pass through the left side of the area that put Diaz in space whose shot rolled just to the right of the far post.

For Adelphi, sophomore back Kayla Mushorn provided perhaps the biggest scare for Saint Rose when she struck a ball with 11 minutes left in regulation that sailed just high.

In goal, Golden Knights All-American keeper Marika Laurendeau made three of her four saves after halftime on the way to her league leading ninth shutout of the season.

Looking ahead, both sides have home conference matches Saturday. Saint Rose hosts Southern Connecticut State for Senior Day at 3:00 pm. Meanwhile, the Panthers take on Assumption at 4:00 pm.
Notes: Saint Rose is now 3-0-3 in overtime this fall…Laurendeau is currently second among NE10 keepers and ninth nationally with a 0.40 goals-against-average…She stands third in the NE10 with a .878 save percentage…Mueller is tied for the league lead with six assists…Freshman forward Mia Klammer paces the conference with nine goals…Saint Rose has outscored its 14 opponents 34-6 despite playing eight of its contests on the road…The Golden Knights sit atop the NE10 in scoring offense and defense, with a 2.43 goal scoring average and a 0.40 team GAA…Thirteen players have accounted for the 34 goals and 18 have figured in the scoring column…Laurendeau was named the NE10 Goalkeeper of the Week and senior back Ciera Lundy was tabbed the Defender of the Week on Monday.
