GOLDEN KNIGHTS STRIKE LATE TO UPEND SAINT MICHAEL’S

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The College of Saint Rose scored the game-winner late in the second half to upend host Saint Michael's 2-1 in Northeast-10 Conference action this afternoon. In the process, the Golden Knights (7-5-2/6-3-1 NE10) won for the fifth time in their last six outings and improved to 4-2-1 on the road.

Sophomore midfielder Josh Elliott drove a low strike from the top of the area off a feed from freshman midfielder Daniel Zholendz with 84:05 elapsed to account for the game-winner.

Sophomore back Nick Koenig put Saint Rose up 1-0 at the 64:12 mark after he buried a penalty kick. Senior forward Isaiah McCaskill leveled it for Saint Michael's (5-9-1/2-8-1 NE10) seven minutes later after he touched his strike off the left post.

Freshman keeper Tomas Rozman recorded four saves for the Golden Knights, while senior Mathias Loft came up with four saves as well for the Purple Knights.

"Today was a great road win versus a very dangerous Saint Michael's team. Playing up in Colchester is never easy, so I was really happy about our team's resiliency to score a winner late and hold on for the win," said head coach John Ciano.

The outcome hung in the balance until the very end as Saint Rose withstood a late push from Saint Michael's, which put four shots on target within a minute span with three minutes remaining. Rozman came up with a key save, the Golden Knights recorded a team save on another, and Purple Knights senior midfielder Kyle Brady rattled his potential game-tying strike off the crossbar.

Overall, Saint Rose manufactured a 15-13 shot advantage although each side engineered six shots on target.

Looking ahead, both sides are back on the pitch for NE10 action Saturday. The Golden Knights travel to Springfield to face #23 American International at 1:00 pm, while Saint Michael's host Stonehill at 2:30 pm.
Notes: The Golden Knights have a young squad with 25 underclassmen listed on their roster…Henriksen was named to the NE10 weekly honor roll Monday…Rozman stands second among all NE10 goalkeepers with an .850 save percentage and is third behind a 0.70 goals-against-average.
