#13 GOLDEN KNIGHTS STUN #6 SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE BY SCORING THE GAME-WINNER WITH 13 SECONDS LEFT IN THE SECOND OVERTIME

ALBANY, N.Y. – Sophomore midfielder Caylee Boorse drove a shot from the top of the area into the far-right corner with 13 seconds left in the second overtime to lift The College of Saint Rose to today's thrilling 1-0 victory against visiting Northeast-10 Conference rival Southern New Hampshire.

The contest featured two of a mere nine unbeaten NCAA Division II squads who are both ranked among the nation's top-15 teams. The contest appeared destined to end in a scoreless draw, but Boorse calmly took a feed from sophomore midfielder Jen Bartlett and delivered it home to allow the Golden Knights to grab their 11th win of the year.

Each side controlled possession for 50.0 percent of the match, although the Penmen (12-1-1/10-1-0 NE10) engineered a 7-3 shot advantage after intermission and produced seven corner kicks, while yielding only a pair throughout the afternoon.

Regardless, Saint Rose (11-0-2/8-0-2 NE10) All-American goalkeeper Marika Laurendeau did a superlative job coming off her line to thwart many of Southern New Hampshire's forays into the area.

"This was a great team win today. Our defense was solid. Marika was outstanding controlling her box and made tremendous saves in traffic. I was very pleased with our relentless effort and spirit. Caylee made a great run forward and capped it off with a fantastic finish. Izzy (O'Clair) and Jen had a great passing combination to set up the game winner," said head coach Laurie Darling Gutheil.

The Penmen's best chance to strike came with 15:40 remaining in regulation when senior midfielder Oriane Hoeman lined a shot headed topside. However, Laurendeau got off her feet to deflect the threat over the crossbar to keep the contest scoreless on the way to her NE10 leading eighth shutout of the year.

Freshman midfielder Katlyn Krupski nearly put the Golden Knights up 1-0 with 27:30 expired when she stepped into a shot that forced Penmen senior keeper Hannah Rose to be on her toes.

The contest see-sawed back and forth with each side gaining momentum at various junctures throughout the picturesque afternoon at Sullivan Field within the Plumeri Sports Complex. Saint Rose manufactured five of the game's first seven shots although Southern New Hampshire wound up with a 13-8 advantage in its first loss of the year.

Looking ahead, both sides get back on the pitch Tuesday for conference matches. The Golden Knights host Adelphi at 6:00 pm, while the Penmen visit crosstown rival Saint Anselm at 3:00 pm in Manchester.
