WALTHAM, MASS.- The College of Saint Rose was defeated 3-0 on the road at Bentley tonight. The Falcons earned the victory with set scores of 25-12, 25-18, 25-19.

Cassidy Smith topped Saint Rose (7-13/1-5 NE10) with seven kills on a .400 average. Sophomore setter

Bentley (11-7/6-1 NE10) benefited from long service runs from freshman defensive specialist Jazzy Burke, sophomore defensive specialist Angie Grabmeier, and senior setter Amanda Parker to jump out to an 18-4 lead in the opening set. The Falcons finished with a .359 strike percentage and 18 kills as Bentley took the first frame by a 13-point margin.Â
The two teams battled to a 12-12 score in the second stanza before Grabmeier served the Falcons to a 19-12 advantage. That long rally pulled Bentley ahead for good in the 25-20 set win. Bentley finished off the straight-set victory with a 25-19 win in the third.
Sophomore Ellie Wheeler finished with a match-high 15 kills, junior outside hitter Ingrid Murphy landed eight kills, and sophomore Maddy Kelley recorded seven kills to lead a Bentley attack that tallied 51 kills total in the sweep. Entering tonight's match, Wheeler ranked first in the Northeast-10 Conference with an average of 3.77 kills per set.
Saint Rose continues its road trip on Saturday at Stonehill, with the first set versus the Skyhawks slated to start at 2:00 pm. Bentley is also back in action on Saturday with a 1:00 pm match-up against visiting LeMoyne.
Notes: Entering play today, Fripp's average of 1.03 blocks per set and the 0.86 blocks per set by Cavalcanti ranked first and fifth in the NE10…As a team, the Golden Knights lead the conference with 2.04 blocks per set...Fripp also holds the fourth-highest strike rate in the league with a .313 swing percentage...Boyrie is 12th in the conference with 3.70 digs per set.
