FRIPP CONTINUES DEFENSIVE DOMINANCE IN SAINT ROSE 3-0 DEFEAT AT STONEHILL


NORTH EASTON, Mass.- The College of Saint Rose fell on the road at Northeast-10 Conference rival Stonehill this afternoon. The Skyhawks took the match behind set scores of 25-16, 25-14, and 25-16 to improve to 8-0 at home.

Freshman middle blocker Karleigh Fripp continued her dominant defensive efforts this season for the Golden Knights, elevating to win four blocks. Senior middle blocker Cassidy Smith paced Saint Rose with four kills, while three kills were landed each by Fripp, freshman outside hitter Jennah Kareem, and freshman middle blocker Julia Cavalcanti.

The early stages of the opening frame remained balanced until Stonehill broke open a 12-12 tie to win the first set after a 13-4 closing streak. In the second set, the Skyhawks landed four of their nine total service aces to take the frame by an 11-point margin. 

The Golden Knights (7-15/1-7 NE10) landed four aces in the third set, including three from freshman setter Katelyn Atchinson, but Stonehill (16-6/6-1 NE10) benefited from five kills in the stanza by senior outside hitter Abby Remick to finish out the set, 25-16, and complete the straight-set win.

Remick tallied a match-high 14 kills and junior outside hitter Basia Peragine recorded 10 kills in the victory for Stonehill. Senior setter Lauren Wilke distributed 29 assists and the Skyhawks held a 41-19 kill advantage over the Golden Knights.

After five consecutive away contests, Saint Rose returns home on Friday to host Franklin Pierce. First set is scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm at Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. Stonehill travels to Pace University on Friday for a 7:00 pm conference match-up.
Notes: Entering play today, Fripp's average of 1.04 blocks per set and the 0.82 blocks per set by Cavalcanti ranked first and sixth in the NE10…As a team, the Golden Knights lead the conference with 2.01 blocks per set...Fripp also holds the sixth-highest strike rate in the league with a .303 swing percentage...Boyrie is 12th in the conference with 3.70 digs per set.
