GARDEN CITY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose was defeated in straight sets at Northeast-10 Conference rival Adelphi this afternoon. The Panthers took the match with set scores of 25-13, 29-27, and 25-18.
Junior libero Gabriela Boyrié lifted 18 digs and junior defensive specialist
Megan Mayer added 10 digs and two aces for the Golden Knights (6-13/1-5 NE10). Freshman setter
Emma Strefling tallied a team-high 10 assists.

Cassidy Smith topped Saint Rose with six kills on a .375 strike percentage. Freshman middle blocker

Elizabeth Johnson each registered four kills.Â
The Golden Knights struggled through the opening set to build a consistent offensive presence, as Adelphi owned a 15-2 kill advantage and limited Saint Rose to a -.176 hitting average in the 25-13 first frame win.
With Adelphi (14-6/3-2 NE10) ahead 16-10 and charging towards a second set victory, Mayer led the Golden Knights on a 6-0 run from the service line to bring the action even at 16-16.Â
The Panthers responded to the Saint Rose rally by winning four of the next five points to go back up 20-17, but the lead would be short-lived as the Golden Knights roared back on a 7-3 streak to pull ahead 24-23. In a chaotic ending to the stanza, each team fought off multiple set points before the Panthers landed two straight kills to take the set 29-27.

Adelphi sprinted out to an 12-4 lead in set number three on its way to closing out the sweep by a seven point margin in the final frame.
Sophomore outside hitter Samantha Meehan led all players with 10 kills, while junior outside hitter Katie Schloss and freshman middle blocker Lilyen McCarthy each finished with eight kills for Adelphi. Freshman setter Kambel Fiser distributed 34 assists on the Panthers' 50 kills.
Looking ahead, Saint Rose returns to action on Tuesday night at Queens College. The non-conference matchup is scheduled for at 7:00 pm start in Flushing, N.Y. Adelphi continues NE10 play at home that evening against New Haven, also at 7:00 pm.
