GOLDEN KNIGHTS EARN STRAIGHT SET VICTORY ON THE ROAD AT DOMINICAN

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – The College of Saint Rose used a balanced team attack to earn a 3-0 sweep (25-15, 25-22, 25-19) on the road at Dominican tonight.

Three different Golden Knights tallied seven or more kills in the straight set victory, with freshman outside hitter Juliana Venduro leading Saint Rose with nine kills. Freshman outside hitter Jennah Kareem recorded eight kills and freshman middle blocker Karleigh Fripp totaled seven kills on a .429 average.

The pair of freshman setter Emma Strefling and sophomore setter Allison Sellers combined for 26 assists and junior libero Gabriela Boyrie topped all players with 14 digs.

"I am proud of how the team played tonight," said Head Coach Vanessa Volpe- Rivera after the win. "We were able to keep control throughout the match and execute our game plan effectively."

The Golden Knights (6-12) took control with an 11-4 rally to open set number one, paced by three kills and two aces by Venduro in the sequence. Saint Rose would go on to take the opening frame behind an extremely accurate .385 swing percentage.

A closer second stanza saw the two teams knotted at 19-19 before Saint Rose won six of the final nine points to take the frame. Sophomore outside hitter Elizabeth Johnson and freshman middle blocker Julia Cavalcanti combined for the block that earned the clinching point in the 25-22 set victory.

Saint Rose utilized long service turns from Kareem and Sellers to pull away from the Chargers in the third. Kareem landed two of her match-high three aces to help the Golden Knights comfortably close out the final set by a six point margin.

Freshman outside hitter Lindley McCutcheon led the Dominican attack with 10 kills. Defensively, freshman libero Linda Armao Peng lifted 13 digs for the Chargers (3-13). The Golden Knights limited the Dominican offense to just a .118 swing percentage.

Looking ahead, Saint Rose returns to Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday with a 1:00 pm meeting at Adelphi. Dominican resumes Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play at home on Wednesday against Felician. First set is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
