CARY, N.C. – The College of Saint Rose jumped out to a 4-1 first inning lead and never looked back in tonight's 17-4 win versus Fairmont State at the USA Baseball National Training Complex.
Â
The Golden Knights (4-5) pushed across three more in the second and six in the third to put the game out of reach. Ten different players had at least one hit including sophomore designated hitter
Jack McDonald who finished 2-for-4 with four RBI and a pair of walks. Junior left fielder
Stephan MacMeans went 3-for-5 with three RBI. Senior shortstop
Andrew Pedone went 3-for-5 as well and scored three runs, while senior right fielder
Garrett Klahr drove home a pair.
Â
On the mound, junior right-hander
Johnny Pohlman did not allow an earned run throughout 5.2 innings of relief to pick up the win. Freshman righty
Randall Alejo surrendered just two hits in 3.0 innings of work.
Â
Looking ahead, both teams continue their residency at the USA Baseball National Training Complex tomorrow. Saint Rose faces West Virginia State at 9:30 am and Slippery Rock at 5:00 pm. Meanwhile, the Falcons meet Jefferson University at 3:30 pm.
