WILSON, N.C. – The College of Saint Rose opened its annual spring break southern trip with Saturday's split versus Post University at Fleming Stadium. The Golden Knights (2-4) won the opener 4-3, before dropping the nightcap 7-3.

Saint Rose broke open a 1-0 first game by pushing across three runs in the fourth. The Eagles (5-4) then chipped away by scoring once in the home half of the fourth and once each in the fifth and sixth as well.

Sophomore catcher
Samuel Brioso had an RBI double and came around to score himself to highlight the fourth.

Freshman right-hander
Randall Alejo fanned seven and gave up a pair of runs on two hits in 4.0-plus innings of work to pick up his first collegiate win. Sophomore left-hander
Jeff Hayner recorded six strikeouts and surrendered a run on two hits throughout the final 3.0 frames to earn the save.

In the second game, Post scored four times in the second to go up 4-1 and then added two runs in the sixth to take a 6-3 lead, before adding a perfunctory run in the seventh.

Sophomore first baseman
Jack McDonald went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Brioso belted an RBI double to spearhead a Golden Knights two-run second frame. Senior right-hander
John Braun came on in relief to work out of a bases loaded, one out jam in the third and then struck out the side in the fourth to keep Saint Rose within striking distance.

Looking ahead, both squads return to action at Fleming Stadium later today. Saint Rose takes on Lake Erie at 1:00 pm, while the Eagles face Assumption at 11:00 am.
