GOLDEN KNIGHTS COME BACK TO DEFEAT SAINT MICHAEL'S 9-8 IN OVERTIME

Pemrick Nets Game-Winner

ALBANY, N.Y. – Junior attack Jack Pemrick scored 2:33 into the overtime period to help The College of Saint Rose defeat visiting Saint Michael's 9-8 this afternoon. The Northeast-10 Conference matinee was tightly-contested throughout, featuring six ties and a like number of lead changes on the cold and windy grounds of the Plumeri Sports Complex.

"First of all, hats off to Saint Michael's for coming in here and playing a great game," said Head Coach Jim Morrissey. "Both teams showed a lot of heart and there was no loser on the field today."

Sophomore midfielder Kyle Hirshom, one of four Saint Michael's players to net two goals, scored twice in a 51 second span to give the visitors what would be their final lead of the contest at 8-7 with 6:58 remaining. Saint Rose quickly responded, with senior attack Jordyn Marchiano firing home a feed from freshman attack Greg Walsh just 52 ticks later to tie it again. Both squads had tremendous opportunities to take the lead down the stretch, but Saint Rose freshman Ryan Fleming and Saint Michael's junior Dominic Joy were equal to the task in goal.

Senior midfielder Cameron Knox came up with the opening face-off of the extra session and eventually set the stage for Pemrick's heroics.

"It feels amazing to come out of here after battling in the cold and wind with the win," said Pemrick. "It came down to who wanted it more and I'm proud of everyone that fought hard today."

Pemrick established a career-high with five points, a goal and four assists, while Marchiano equaled a career-best with four goals. Fleming stopped eight Saint Michael's shots to get the win, while Knox won seven of the 14 face-offs he took.

Looking ahead, Saint Rose (2-0/1-0 NE10) ventures to the Sunshine State for the first time next week, facing a pair of nationally-ranked opponents. The Golden Knights will play No. 20 Florida Southern on Wednesday and No. 5 Tampa on Saturday. Saint Michael's (0-1/0-1 NE10) visits Roberts Wesleyan next Saturday for an 11:00 am non-conference game.
