GOLDEN KNIGHTS PLAY FIRST GAME ON SUNDAY

ALBANY, N.Y. – A new era for intercollegiate athletics at The College of Saint Rose begins this spring with the women's lacrosse program's first season. 18 women, under the direction of head coach Kaitlin Gaghan, will take the field for Sunday's season opener at Saint Thomas Aquinas. The program's inaugural game is slated for a 12:00 pm start in Sparkill, N.Y.

"Our team and coaching staff are definitely feeling the excitement and thrill of counting down the days until our first game," said Gaghan. "We have grinded throughout our preseason to make sure we are conditioned and mentally prepared to take on a full season of lacrosse. We have played in all types of weather and practice conditions to ensure our team is ready to play come February 23rd. We want to finally show what Saint Rose women's lacrosse is all about."

The Golden Knights have their home opener Saturday, February 29 vs. The University of the District of Columbia. The non-conference action at the Plumeri Sports Complex is set to begin at 12:00 pm. Saint Rose picked to finish tied for 13th in the Northeast-10 Conference preseason coaches' poll, will host Post University in non-conference play and league games against Saint Anselm, Assumption, Adelphi, Bentley, New Haven and Southern New Hampshire this spring.

"The NE10 is one of the most competitive conferences in DII women's lacrosse," said Gaghan. "Having the reigning national champions and extremely competitive programs only pushes our team to play to the best of our abilities. We know these teams play hard and accept the challenge of building our team culture in the process."
