SAINT ROSE RALLIES FROM LATE DOUBLE DIGIT DEFICIT BEFORE FALLING IN OVERTIME AT ADELPHI

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – The College of Saint Rose rallied from a 13-point deficit with 5:45 left in the second half only to fall 87-82 in overtime at Northeast-10 Conference rival Adelphi this afternoon.

"Our players fought their hearts out today and took another step forward despite the loss. I'm so proud of how hard they continue to work each and every day. We have only one senior on our roster, so it is only the beginning of the journey for the majority of our players," said head coach Mike Perno.

Junior guard Adam Anderson knocked down a free throw to ignite the surge and then canned a trey with 2:00 left in regulation to make it a five point, 71-66, ballgame. Freshman swing Cartier Bowman hit a pair from foul line with 1:10 to go to cut the deficit to three and freshman forward Josh McGettigan drained a 3-pointer from the right corner with 30 seconds remaining to force the extra session as Adelphi came up empty on the other end.

McGettigan commenced overtime with a pair of jumpers to give the Golden Knights (5-21/2-15 NE10) a four point, 75-71, lead with 3:29 left.

Two minutes later, sophomore swing Dwaine Williams drained a 3-pointer to put the Panthers (18-7/11-5 NE10) ahead to stay, 81-78. McGettigan followed with a pair from the line to get Saint Rose back to within one, but junior guard Spencer Foley went 6-for-6 from the stripe throughout the final 45 seconds to allow Adelphi to hang on.

McGettigan finished with a career-high 23 points, behind 3-for-4 shooting from the arc, and seven rebounds; while sophomore forward Sekou Sylla had 23 points as well to go with six boards to lead the Golden Knights. Bowman had 17 points, nine rebounds, and tied his season-high with four assists; while Anderson scored all 14 of his points after halftime.

Foley went 8-for-12 from the floor and 10-for-10 at the line, and Silva knocked down six, 3-pointers to lead the Panthers with 30 and 28 points respectively.

Looking ahead, Saint Rose has a week off before heading to West Haven to face Southern Connecticut State next Saturday at 3:30 pm. Meanwhile, Adelphi hosts Pace University Wednesday at 7:30 pm.
Notes: Sylla continues to lead the NE10 with 11.8 rebounds per game and is second behind a 22.5 scoring average…He is first in the country with 19 "double-doubles" and stands second in rebounding…He was named to the NE10 weekly honor roll for the seventh time this season on Monday…Anderson is scoring at a 14.3 ppg clip after averaging 17.4 ppg throughout the last nine contests thanks in part to 49.9 percent (25-for-51) shooting from the arc…Bowman is averaging 10.9 ppg and 7.3 rpg on the year…He is also second in the NE10 with a 58.0 field goal percentage (109-for-188)…Adelphi has now won four straight and is 10-3 at home.
