ALBANY, N.Y. – The College of Saint Rose proved resilient again in today's 85-79 setback to visiting Saint Thomas Aquinas, which entered the game ranked #21 in the NABC national coaches poll and #11 in the D2SIDA media rankings.

The Spartans (12-2) ultimately grabbed 22 offensive rebounds and withstood several Golden Knights charges to improve to 8-0 on the road this season.

Saint Rose, facing its third nationally ranked opponent within the past three weeks, used a 10-0 run early in the second half to get to within a bucket. The Golden Knights also made it a one possession game on three occasions midway through the period and twice were within four throughout the final 4:25. However, Saint Thomas Aquinas went 7-for-8 from the foul line during the final 30 seconds to seal the win.

Sophomore forward
Sekou Sylla recorded his 11th "double-double" of the year to lead four Saint Rose (3-11) players in twin-figures. Sylla finished with 32 points, two shy of his career-high, and hauled in 18 rebounds. Junior guard
Adam Anderson wound up in twin figures for the seventh consecutive game with 16 points, while freshmen forwards
Josh McGettigan and
Cartier Bowman tossed in 13 and 10 respectively. Bowman also pulled down eight boards.

Sophomore forward Osbel Caraballo and senior swing Sekou Cisse each registered "double-doubles" for Saint Thomas Aquinas. Caraballo wound up with 25 points and 15 rebounds, while Cisse finished with 16 points and 15 caroms as well. Sophomore guard Demetre Roberts went 4-for-8 from the arc to add 18 points.

Looking ahead, both teams have 7:30 pm dates Wednesday. The Golden Knights travel to Springfield, Mass. to face Northeast-10 Conference rival American International, while the Spartans host New Haven.

Mike Perno has a young team that features only one senior and a pair of juniors…Three underclassmen started today…Sylla is among the country's top-10 and leads the NE10 in rebounding (11.6)…He is third in the league in scoring (21.4) and is the only NE10 player averaging a "double-double"…Sylla has averaged 25.2 points and 12.6 boards throughout the past five games…Anderson is averaging 13.3 points on the year…Bowman finished in twin-figures for the fourth time this season.
