WORCESTER, Mass. - The College of Saint Rose kicked off Northeast-10 Conference play with tonight's 3-1 win at Assumption. The Golden Knights (7-6/1-0 NE10) were victorious by scores of 25-16, 25-16, 20-25, 25-16.
The Black and Gold defense keyed the road win, holding Assumption to .012 hitting and totaling 11.0 blocks. Four Saint Rose players had double-digits in digs, including 15 from senior libero
Tina Ceriello, who entered the match as the league leader in digs per set and total digs.
Senior outside hitter
Stevie Schweitzer recorded a double-double of 14 kills and 21 digs to lead the Saint Rose offense. Junior middle hitter
Kyla Archie added 10 kills and blocked five Greyhound attacks. Freshman setter
Valeria Jorge also had a double-double, dishing out 18 assists and registering 12 digs. Freshman setter
Allison Sellers distributed 13 helpers.
"What a great NE10 win," said Saint Rose Head Coach
Vanessa Volpe-Rivera. "Being on the road is always a challenge and we were able to come out strong in the first set and keep our momentum throughout."
 Junior outside hitter Ariana Orcera and sophomore right side Jill Orosz topped Assumption (2-9/0-1 NE10) with seven kills apiece. Sophomore libero Alexandra Krawczyk registered 24 digs, while freshmen setters Kyra Belden and Danielle Zarcone combined for 16 assists.
The Golden Knights limited Assumption to -.043 hitting en route to a 2-0 lead. After the Greyhounds extended the match, Saint Rose got out to a 10-2 fourth set advantage to close things out.
NE10 play continues on Saturday afternoon. Saint Rose is home during HOME.COMING & Family Weekend taking on New Haven at noon. Fans unable to attend can watch the action on the
NE10NOW Network. Meanwhile, Assumption visits Saint Michael's for a 1:00 pm start.
Notes: Saint Rose, coming off its first postseason appearance since 2015, was picked ninth in the Northeast-10 Conference preseason coaches' poll…Ceriello began the week as the NE10 leader in digs per set (6.21) and total digs (242)...She made today's NE10 weekly honor roll for her performance at the Gannon-Edinboro Tournament...Archie entered tonight with an NE10-best 0.97 blocks per set…She earned a spot on Tuesday's NE10 weekly honor roll.
