"BackPack Program" Tri-Match: In lieu of an admission charge for tomorrow's tri-match, the program will be collecting certain food items to benefit the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York.
Â
The BackPack Program helps alleviate child hunger by discreetly providing hungry children with backpacks full of nutritious and easy-to-prepare food on Friday afternoons so they have food to eat throughout the weekend. The effort serves more than 6,500 students in 220 schools across 20 counties.
Â
Specific items requested include: peanut butter, jelly, granola bars, juice boxes and macaroni and cheese. The program will also be accepting monetary donations at the door to purchase these items.
Â
The Regional Food Bank has been helping to feed the poor and hungry in our communities since 1982. It is the only organization of its kind in northeastern New York. The Food Bank collects large donations of food from the food industry and distributes it to charitable agencies serving hungry and disadvantaged people in 23 counties.
Notes: Saint Rose was picked ninth in the Northeast-10 Conference preseason coaches' poll…The Golden Knights are coming off their first postseason appearance since 2015…Ceriello, who was named to Tuesday's NE10 weekly honor roll, averages 5.94 digs per set.
