ALBANY, N.Y. - The College of Saint Rose used a strong defense to sweep Post University in its home opener. The Golden Knights (3-2), which won by scores of 25-20, 25-17 and 25-17, held the visitors to .087 hitting in the non-conference victory.
 
Senior outside hitter 
Stevie Schweitzer led the Saint Rose offense with 14 kills on .303 hitting. Junior middle hitter 
Kyla Archie added six kills and 4.5 total blocks, while senior libero 
Tina Ceriello totaled 24 digs. The freshmen setting duo of 
Allison Sellers (14) and 
Valeria Jorge (17) combined for 31 assists as the Black and Gold hit .312.
 
"Tonight was a great win," said Saint Rose Head Coach 
Vanessa Volpe-Rivera. "We were able to bounce back from Saturday's performance and build momentum for our three matches this weekend."
 
Senior outside hitter Shannon Veale topped Post (0-5) with a double-double of 12 kills and 13 digs.
 
Saint Rose is home again Friday vs. Dominican at 6:00 pm. The Eagles are back in action Thursday night at New Haven.
Notes: Saint Rose was picked ninth in the Northeast-10 Conference preseason coaches' poll…Ceriello, who was named to today's NE10 weekly honor roll, averages 5.87 digs per set.
