SAINT ROSE UPENDED AT AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The College of Saint Rose dropped this afternoon's Northeast-10 Conference game at American International 5-2.

The Golden Knights (11-14/5-6 NE10) got on the board quickly. Senior infielder Briana Bowen started the game with a single and came around to score on a single by sophomore infielder Savanna Liverio.

After American International (8-19/5-9 NE10) took the lead with a two-run third, junior infielder Shannon Moore tied the game with a fourth-inning solo shot to left.

The Yellow Jackets regained the advantage with a run in the bottom half and tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the fifth. Saint Rose didn't go quietly, loading the bases in the seventh, but was unable to get any closer.

Sophomore infielder Brianna Rivera, who blasted a grand slam last time the teams met, paced AIC by going 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored.

Senior outfielder Astasia Myler was 2-for-4 for the Golden Knights.

The teams were schedule to cap the afternoon by playing a non-league contest, but it was canceled. Looking ahead, Saint Rose heads to New Haven to make-up a previous postponement tomorrow. First pitch is set for 3:00 pm. American International hosts Caldwell for a non-conference twin-bill on Thursday.
Notes: Bowen, who was named to Monday's NE10 weekly honor roll, tops the team with a .429 batting average (36-for-84)...She has gotten a hit in 21 of the 25 games played this spring, including the last ten.
