SAINT ROSE DROPS TWO AT SEVENTH RANKED SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The College of Saint Rose dropped both ends of today's doubleheader at #7 and Northeast-10 Conference rival Southern New Hampshire. The Penmen took the opener 3-1 and the finale 10-0 to run their win streak to eight games.

Southern New Hampshire (23-6/9-1 NE10) scored all three of its runs in the fifth inning of the matinee. The Golden Knights got theirs in the eighth when junior catcher Jon Montesanti doubled to right to bring across junior shortstop Andrew Pedone.

A pair of freshmen took the mound for Saint Rose. Jared Restmeyer tossed 4.0 innings of one-hit ball in relief of fellow right-hander Cameron Flynn who hurled 4.0 innings of no-hit ball himself, before the Penmen broke through in the fifth. Flynn wound up allowing three runs on three hits.

In the nightcap, freshman third baseman Tyler Osborne and sophomore left fielder Stephan MacMeans both finished 2-for-3 to lead the Saint Rose offense.

Looking ahead, both sides have another set of 12:00 pm NE10 crossover doubleheaders tomorrow. The Golden Knights travel 45 miles west to face Franklin Pierce in Rindge, N.H.; while the Penmen host Le Moyne.
