ALBANY, N.Y. – The College of Saint Rose split today's home Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader with Southern Connecticut State. After dropping the opener 12-7, the Golden Knights (14-23/7-14 NE10) took the nightcap 9-4
Saint Rose turned the page quickly following the setback, scoring three first-inning runs. Senior outfielder
Erin Maloney, one of five Golden Knights recognized as part of the "Senior Day" ceremony, cleared the bases with a one-out double.
The Owls manufactured a run in the second. Sophomore infielder Jayden Delaporta led off with a single and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Following a groundout, sophomore infielder Lauryn Zubia singled to score Delaporta.
Saint Rose put up another three-spot in the bottom half. Senior outfielder
Astasia Myler and Maloney had RBI singles in the frame. The Golden Knights tacked on another three runs in the fourth. With one out, sophomore shortstop
Ryane Brush doubled in Myler, who had walked. Sophomore outfielder
Alissa Folts followed with a pinch-hit single to score two.
SCSU tallied a pair of runs in the fifth for the final margin.
Maloney, who drove in four runs, was one of three Golden Knights to have two hits in the victory.

Southern Connecticut State (8-34/6-17 NE10) rallied for 11 runs in the seventh to take the opener. Junior shortstop Sara Buscetto singled in a pair to tie the game, while freshman infielder Alexa Bacoulis drove in the go-ahead run with a double. Bacoulis, who entered the doubleheader third in the NE10 with a .389 batting average, singled home Buscetto in the first to get the Owls on the board.
The Golden Knights plated two runs in the fourth to go up 2-1. Sophomore catcher
Liz D'Agostino led off with a double and scored on a single by senior infielder
Beth Jones. Senior infielder
Briana Bowen followed with a single to knock Jones in.
Saint Rose added a pair of runs in the fifth. Junior infielder
Shannon Moore started the frame with a homer into the left-field netting. Freshman right-hander
Samantha Allen helped herself with a sacrifice fly to left to score D'Agostino.
The Golden Knights did not go quietly following the SCSU outburst. Down to its final out, Saint Rose rallied for three runs. Bowen knocked in two with a single.
Jones was 4-for-4 with two run scored and an RBI, while Bowen added three hits and three RBI in defeat.

Samantha LaBarbera, who made a great sliding catch in the opener, Myler and Maloney.

The teams are scheduled to play the regular season finale tomorrow at 10:00 am.
Notes: The Golden Knights go into tomorrow with two players among the NE10 leaders in hitting. Myler was second with a .417 average, while senior infielder
Briana Bowen was sixth at .385…Myler, who was named to Monday's NE10 weekly honor roll, is batting .704 (19-for-27) across the last eight games.
