GOLDEN KNIGHTS EDGED IN SEASON FINALE BY SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT STATE, 4-3

Myler Finishes Second in the NE10 in Batting

ALBANY, N.Y. – The College of Saint Rose finished its 2019 season with this morning's 4-3 Northeast-10 Conference setback to visiting Southern Connecticut State.

Senior outfielder Erin Maloney, one of five Golden Knights playing their final game today, and sophomore shortstop Ryane Brush led the Golden Knights (14-24/7-15 NE10) with two hits apiece.

After allowing a run in the top of the first, Saint Rose took a 2-1 lead just three batters in. Senior infielder Briana Bowen walked and moved to second on a single by senior outfielder Astasia Myler. Senior infielder Beth Jones laced a double down the leftfield line to score the duo.

The Owls manufactured the tying run in the second. Sophomore outfielder Cailey Botteon led off with a walk and was sacrificed to second by sophomore infielder Lauryn Zubia. Following a groundout, junior shortstop plated Botteon with a single.

Brush began the fourth with a homer to left to give the Golden Knights the lead.

After SCSU took advantage of a Saint Rose error to score two runs in the sixth, the Golden Knights quickly mounted a threat in the bottom half, getting runners on first and second with one out. Sophomore right-hander Jazmin Martinez came in from the bullpen to shut the door, retiring the next two Saint Rose hitters. She finished the seventh to earn the save.

Senior right-hander Delany Turner (Win, 3-7) and junior outfielder Maria Zecena each went 2-for-3 to pace the Southern Connecticut State (9-34/7-17 NE10) offense.
Notes: Myler finished second in the NE10 with a .412 average, while senior infielder Briana Bowen was sixth at .384…Myler, who was named to Monday's NE10 weekly honor roll, batted .645 (20-for-31) across the last nine games.
