OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – The College of Saint Rose pounded out a season-high 19 hits on the way to today's 16-7 defeat of host NYIT. In the process, the Golden Knights (10-18) won their third straight and avenged a 5-4 home setback to the Bears two weeks ago.

"We played with confidence and strung together a lot of great at-bats. We hit the ball well and made some big defensive plays when we needed them. We have been working hard, so it's good to get some positive results. We're excited to start the second half of the Norheast-10 Conference divisional slate," said head coach
Wayne Jones.
Â
Eight of the Saint Rose nine starting batters figured in this afternoon's offense including junior shortstop
Brian Hill, sophomore outfielder
Stephan MacMeans, and sophomore right fielder
Isaiah Peace, who all homered. Hill finished 4-for-6 and belted an inside the park round tripper in the seventh.
Â
Junior second baseman
Andrew Pedone and junior designated hitter
Jon Montesanti had three hits apiece, while MacMeans and senior left fielder
Justin Sportman each belted a pair.
Â
On the mound, junior right-hander
Richard Umholtz surrendered only an unearned run on three hits throughout 4.0 innings of relief.
