KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The College of Saint Rose concluded its Florida trip with a split. The Golden Knights (6-6) fell 5-1 to Trevecca Nazarene and defeated Concordia-New York 8-0 (6 innings).
Sophomore infielders
Ryane Brush and
Savanna Liverio led the Saint Rose offense in the victory. Brush started the scoring with a first inning home run, while Liverio, who drove in three, was 2-for-3. Liverio, in the midst of a career-best nine-game hitting streak, helped end things early by knocking in two with a double during a five-run sixth.
Freshman right-hander
Samantha Allen (4-1) made the Brush homer stand up, permitting just one of the first 15 Concordia (0-1) batters to reach base. The reigning Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week struck out five in her complete game three-hitter. Only two Clippers' runners reached scoring position across the six innings.
In the opener, Trevecca Nazarene (9-5) used timely hits and capitalized upon Saint Rose miscues to earn the win. The Trojans plated two runs in the fourth and another in the fifth in six to gain control of what was a 1-1 game. Three of the runs were unearned.
Liverio singled home Brush in the first for the lone Saint Rose marker.
Saint Rose is scheduled to open Conference play on Wednesday, March 20 when it hosts Upstate Challenge rival Le Moyne. The doubleheader is slated for a 3:00 pm start.
