ALLEN NO-HITS LE MOYNE

Golden Knights Split Upstate Challenge Doubleheader

ALBANY, N.Y. – The College of Saint Rose freshman right-hander Samantha Allen threw a no-hitter in today's 10-0 home win vs. Upstate Challenge rival Le Moyne. The rookie struck out five and walked three in the five-inning Northeast-10 Conference victory.

"I'm proud of how the girls came out in game one," said Saint Rose Head Coach Abby Arceneaux. "The offense and defense fed off of Samantha's poise and demeanor on the mound. We got a lot of two-out hits and gave her more than enough run support."

Senior infielder Briana Bowen was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and an RBI, while sophomore infielder Savanna Liverio drove in four runs in the opener.

After putting across a run on a Liverio groundout in the first, the Golden Knights batted around in a six-run second. Liverio had the big hit of the frame, driving in three with a two-out triple to right field.

Sophomore infielder Ryane Brush blasted a three-run homer into the left-field net to increase the Saint Rose advantage. She was 1-for-3 with two runs scored in the win.

The Golden Knights (7-7/1-1 NE10) dropped the nightcap, 6-3, to split the doubleheader.

Le Moyne (9-10/1-1 NE10) plated a run in the first and two in the second to hold a 3-0 lead after two innings. The Golden Knights responded with three unearned runs in the third to tie it.

The Dolphins put up a three-spot in the seventh for the difference. Senior outfielder Lauren Zazzaro and freshman infielder Victoria Catalano had RBI doubles in the frame.

Both teams have three-game NE10 weekends on tap. Saint Rose plays at New Haven at 2:00 pm on Saturday before a Sunday noon doubleheader. Meanwhile, Le Moyne hosts Pace University for three games, two on Saturday and one on Sunday.
Notes: Liverio had a 10-game hitting streak snapped in the nightcap...She leads the Golden Knights with 15 RBI and a 1.010 OPS...Allen, now 5-1 with a save on the spring, has allowed just three earned runs during her last six appearances, all Saint Rose wins.
