CLERMONT, Fla. – The College of Saint Rose split this afternoon's PFX Spring Games. The Golden Knights (5-5) defeated Wheeling Jesuit 8-4 before falling 6-0 to Concordia-Saint Paul.
In the opener, Wheeling Jesuit (2-7) used a three-run third to hold a 4-2 lead through four innings.
Saint Rose regained the lead in the fifth, batting around to push across six runs on five hits. Senior outfielder
Astasia Myler and freshman catcher
Katie Drogo each blasted a two-run home run to highlight the frame.
From there, freshman right-hander
Samantha Allen, who pitched out of a bases-loaded nobody out first inning jam without permitting a run, shut down the Cardinals' offense. The reigning Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week allowed just one batter to reach base across the final three innings. She struck out seven in the complete game victory (3-1).
Saint Rose sophomore shortstop
Ryane Brush was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, while Myler went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Brush finished a homer short of the cycle.
Â
Concordia-Saint Paul (8-5) pushed across an unearned run in the second to open the nightcap's scoring. The Golden Bears tacked on an additional run in the third, before scoring four fifth-inning runs.
Â
Saint Rose concludes its Florida Trip with a pair of games tomorrow. The Golden Knights will play Trevecca Nazarene at 11:15 am and Concordia-New York at 3:45 pm.
