SAINT ROSE SPLITS AT NEW HAVEN

SUNDAY'S SERIES-FINALE POSTPONED

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The College of Saint Rose split today's Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader at New Haven. The Golden Knights (8-8/2-2 NE10) won the first game 2-0, before losing the nightcap 2-1 in eight innings.

Freshman right-hander Samantha Allen recorded her fourth complete game shutout of the spring in the opener. The rookie, fresh off Thursday's no-hitter vs. Upstate Challenge rival Le Moyne, scattered six hits and struck out six Chargers in the victory.

The Golden Knights manufactured runs in the third and fourth in support of the righty. Freshman catcher Katie Drogo led off the third with double and eventually came around to score on a groundout by senior infielder Briana Bowen. Saint Rose put across an unearned insurance run in the fourth.

New Haven (14-8/8-2 NE10) was a walk-off winner in the second game.

Senior outfielder Astasia Myler doubled home sophomore outfielder Alissa Folts, who started the third with a single, for the lone Saint Rose marker.

Bowen finished 3-for-4 in the nightcap for the Golden Knights.

The two squads were prepared to finish their three-game NE10 series tomorrow. However, the contest has been postponed due to heavy rain the forecast. A make-up date will be announced.

Both teams have home NE10 doubleheaders scheduled for Wednesday at 3:00pm. The Golden Knights will host American International, while New Haven entertains Pace University.
Notes: Allen, now 6-2 with a save this spring, has not allowed an earned run in her last 20.2 innings...Her current ERA is 1.78...Opponents are batting just .225 off the righty...She tops the Golden Knights with 35 strikeouts across 43.1 innings...Bowen, the March 4 NE10 Player of the Week, is batting a team-best .408, 20-for-49...The Saint Rose table-setter has gotten a hit in 12 of the opening 16 games of the year.
