SAINT ROSE SPLITS AT EAST STROUDSBURG

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The College of Saint Rose split today's doubleheader at East Stroudsburg, which entered the afternoon with a 4-0 record. The Golden Knights won the opener 4-3, while the Warriors (5-1) took the nightcap 7-1.

In the first game, freshman right fielder Tanner Beang drew a two-out, bases loaded walk in the top of the seventh after junior catcher Jon Montesanti and senior left fielder Justin Sportman singled, and freshman third baseman Tyler Osborne walked as well. Junior right-hander Joe Guerette then worked around a pair of base runners in the home half to pick up his first career save.

Senior first baseman Nicolas Teitter went 2-for-4 with a pair of run scoring singles to lead the offense.

East Stroudsburg responded by jumping out to a 6-0 lead after two innings to put itself in control of the second game, which was halted at the conclusion of the top half of the sixth inning due to darkness.

Sophomore Remington Almarante had a pinch hit, RBI base hit in the sixth for Saint Rose (1-3).

Looking ahead, the Golden Knights return to East Stroudsburg next Friday to begin their spring break trip through the Mid-Atlantic. Saint Rose will take on Jefferson University at 10:00 am. Meanwhile, the Warriors host American International Friday at 2:00 pm.
Note: Hill and junior shortstop Andrew Pedone had at least one hit in three of this weekend's four games.
