ALBANY, N.Y. – Visiting Daemen used a 29-10 run across a 10:31 span to defeat The College of Saint Rose 78-57 at this afternoon's Saint Rose Holiday Classic.
Senior guard
Takora McIntyre recorded career-highs of 18 points and eight rebounds to lead the Golden Knights (4-7).
Junior forward
Nina Fedullo contributed 15 points on 50.0 percent (6-of-12) shooting and nine rebounds.
Daemen (10-3), ranked tenth in Monday's D2SIDA East Region Media Poll, shot 45.8 percent (11-for-24) from beyond the arc in the road victory. Sophomore forward Katie Titus, one of three Wildcats in double figures, topped all participants with 27 points. She added eight rebounds, six assists, three blocks and three steals. Junior forward Caroline White registered a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds, while senior forward Jordan Heinold chipped in with 11 points.
The Wildcats gained some breathing room with an 11-1 run across 2:25 late in the second quarter. The stretch turned what was a tight two-point contest into a double-digit Daemen advantage. The visitors, which went into the locker room up 39-30, started the third period on a 14-4 run to cement their lead. Saint Rose was unable to get closer than 15 across the final 16:50.
The day's action began with Georgian Court defeating American International 73-54. The Lions (3-7), which had four players score in twin figures in the victory, received a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds from senior forward Safiyyah Lee. Senior guard Nadia Wooten topped American International (4-9) with 11 points.
Looking ahead, Saint Rose begins 2020 in our nation's capital, playing the University of the District of Columbia on Friday, Jan. 3 at 1:00 pm. Daemen has a 19-day break in between games. The Wildcats will host Queens College on Friday, Jan. 10 at 6:00 pm.
