FEDULLO AND DOLLARD HELP SAINT ROSE PICK UP HOME VICTORY

Duo Each Register Double-Doubles vs. Georgian Court

ALBANY, N.Y. – The College of Saint Rose used a strong inside game to defeat visiting Georgian Court 69-63 this afternoon at the Saint Rose Holiday Classic. The Golden Knights (4-6), which shot 51.9 percent (28-of-54) inside the arc, recorded 46 points in the paint. Saint Rose got to the line with great success as well, attempting 25 free throws. Consequently, Georgian Court (2-7) only managed four foul shots.

Senior forward Leah Dollard topped the Black and Gold with a career-high 24 points on 10-of-17 shooting in the victory. She secured ten rebounds, also a career-high, for her first double-double of the fall. Junior forward Nina Fedullo filled up the box score in the matinee. She tallied a career-best 22 points on 8-of-10 shooting, 13 rebounds, five assists and four blocks. The effort was her second-straight double-double and fourth of the season.

"So happy for our team to get the win against a talented Georgian Court squad," said Saint Rose Head Coach Karen Haag. "We showed improvement today in our passing, our defense, and our rebounding. Nina and Leah were huge for us and put up big numbers!"

Guard Jada Atchison, a graduate student, who entered the day second in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference in scoring, led the Lions with 25 points. Senior forward Safiyyah Lee added 15 points and 16 rebounds.

Saint Rose began the contest on 12-5 run, only for Georgian Court to battle back to tighten things. The game stayed close from there until the Golden Knights, which trailed for just 1:57 on the day, used a 15-2 run across a 5:10 stretch bridging the third and fourth quarters to obtain some breathing room. Fedullo had seven points during the outburst, which gave Saint Rose a double-digit advantage. A late Lion charge trimmed the deficit to five, 64-59, with 1:04 left. However, Saint Rose went 5-5 at the line in the final minute to seal the non-conference triumph.

The day's tournament action ended with Daemen (9-3) defeating American International 53-40. The Wildcats, ranked tenth in the latest D2SIDA East Region Media Poll, had three players score in double figures in the victory.

The 2019 Saint Rose Holiday Classic concludes tomorrow afternoon. Georgian Court will face American International (4-8) at 12:00 pm. The Golden Knights will take on Daemen at 2:00 pm. Fans that are unable to make it to the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium to attend the games can watch all the action live on the NE10 NOW Network.
Notes: Dollard tops the Golden Knights in scoring with 13.1 points per-game…Fedullo, adds 11.7 points and 9.0 rebounds on a regular basis…She ranks fifth in the Northeast-10 Conference in rebounding.
