COLCHESTER, Vt. - The College of Saint Rose sophomore guard
Becca Townes scored 18 of her career-high 27 points after halftime in today's 78-69 defeat of Wilmington at the Delta Hotel NE10/CACC Conference Challenge, hosted by Saint Michael's. She was 9-of-13 from the field, including of 6-of-8 from beyond the arc, to help the Golden Knights improve to 2-0.

Takora McIntyre and sophomore forward
Shamim Wambere added 13 points apiece, while senior forward
Leah Dollard tossed in 10 points and nine rebounds.
"Today was a great team win," said Saint Rose Head Coach
Karen Haag. "We got behind but kept scrapping.
Becca Townes got hot and they just couldn't stop her. We took really good care of the basketball and shared it well."
The Golden Knights, which went 5-of-7 from beyond the arc following intermission, outscored the Wildcats 15-2 during a 4:08 stretch covering the end of the third quarter and start of the fourth. The run turned a Saint Rose deficit into a double-digit lead with 7:19 remaining in the non-conference matinee. Wilmington (0-2) never got closer than seven from there.
Junior forward Jadyn Whitsitt led the Wildcats with 21 points on 7-of-15 shooting.
Looking ahead, Saint Rose has two contests next weekend at the Dominican Tournament. The Golden Knights are slated to take on the host Chargers Saturday at noon and Felician Sunday at 2:00 pm. Wilmington, voted by CACC coaches to finish seventh in the South Division, plays its home opener on Thursday night vs. West Chester.
