SAINT ROSE SWEPT AT FRANKLIN PIERCE

Schweitzer Tops All Players with 15 Kills


RINDGE, N.H. - The College of Saint Rose senior outside hitter Stevie Schweitzer topped all players with 15 kills in tonight's 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-17) Northeast-10 Conference setback at Franklin Pierce. The showing moved her into fourth place on the program's career kills chart with 994.
 
Senior libero Tina Ceriello, who paces the conference in digs and digs per set, elevated 24 Franklin Pierce attacks, while junior middle hitter Kyla Archie, the NE10 blocking leader, totaled five blocks in defeat.        

Franklin Pierce (9-10/3-5 NE10) had two players with double-digit kill totals. Freshman right side Mariah Robles recorded 15 kills on .281 hitting and senior middle hitter Abigail Garnhart finished 11 rallies. Junior setter Mary Pease ran the Raven offense to the tune of 39 assists, while junior libero Ellie Ivanova registered 26 digs.

After hitting .400 to take the opening set, the hosts flew out to a 10-2 advantage in the second stanza. Saint Rose (10-14/3-6 NE10) fought back, using a 6-0 run to trim its deficit to one at 18-17. Though able to get the margin to one on two more occasions, the Golden Knights were unable to complete the comeback. Franklin Pierce started the third set on an 11-4 jaunt to complete its fifth sweep of the fall.
 
Looking ahead, Saint Rose plays at Southern New Hampshire tomorrow afternoon.  Fans unable to make it to Manchester, N.H. for the 2:00 pm start can watch the action on the NE10 NOW Network. Meanwhile, Franklin Pierce hosts Le Moyne tomorrow at 1:00 pm.

Notes: Saint Rose, picked ninth in the NE10 preseason coaches' poll, is coming off its first postseason appearance since 2015…Ceriello has NE10-bests of 470 digs and 5.47 digs per set…The Saint Rose co-captain ranks third in program records with 1,722 career digs…She was named to Tuesday's NE10 weekly honor roll…Archie, also a co-captain, tops in the conference with 1.20 blocks per set…Her efforts help Saint Rose lead the NE10 in blocking…Schweitzer is now six kills away from becoming the fourth Saint Rose player to reach 1,000 career kills…She ranks third in the NE10 with 3.23 kills per set.
