ALBANY, N.Y. – Senior back
Deanna Trongone knocked home a clearing attempt from 15-yards out with less than two minutes remaining in the first overtime session to propel The College of Saint Rose to a 2-1 come-from-behind victory against visiting Northeast-10 Conference leader Stonehill this afternoon. In the process, the tenth-ranked Golden Knights (8-0-1/5-0-1 NE10) remained the conference's lone unbeaten team.
Â
The contest appeared headed to overtime without any team striking, but the Skyhawks went up 1-0 with less than eight minutes to go in regulation when sophomore forward Camryn Thompson headed in a cross from the left flank off the foot of freshman midfielder Hannah Guidi.
Â
A mere four minutes after that, senior forward
Nina Predanic dribbled the ball into the area and split a pair of defenders, before delivering home a shot near the six-yard box for her team-leading ninth strike of the season.
Â
Junior
Marika Laurendeau made four saves for Saint Rose, while Stonehill senior Kaitlin Brown came up with seven stops at the other end.
Â
Overall, the Golden Knights generated a 9-5 shot-on-goal advantage and owned possession for 55.0 percent of the match.
Â
Looking ahead, both sides have 3:00 pm league dates Tuesday. Saint Rose travels to Colchester, Vt. to take on Saint Michael's, while the Skyhawks host Bentley.
