SAINT ROSE SWEPT AT USCIENCES

Three Golden Knights Record 6+ Kills


PHILADELPHIA – The College of Saint Rose dropped tonight's non-conference match at The University of the Sciences 3-0. The Golden Knights (8-8) fell by scores of 25-21, 27-25, 25-16.
 
Junior middle hitter Victoria Fogg led Saint Rose with eight kills, while senior outside hitter Stevie Schweitzer, the reigning Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week, and freshman outside hitter Ele'sia Williams added six kills each. Junior middle hitter Kyla Archie, the Conference leader in blocks per set, topped all participants with four total blocks, while senior libero Tina Ceriello, who entered the night as the NE10 leader in digs per set, elevated 16 USciences attacks.

The Red Devils, which snapped a five-match losing streak, received a double-double of 14 kills on .520 hitting and 10 digs from freshman outside hitter Tori Wright. She was one of a trio of USciences (4-10) players to finish with double-digit kills. Senior outside hitter Sarah Miller finished off a dozen rallies, and sophomore outside hitter Bianca Galis tossed in 11.
 
Freshman setter Angeli Roman Medina dished out 25 assists, while sophomore defensive specialist Danielle Taylor registered 18 digs.

After losing the opening set, Saint Rose was down six in the second stanza. The Golden Knights reeled off a 9-1 run to force extra time, before falling, 27-25. In the third set, USciences utilized an 16-7 jaunt to complete the sweep.

Both teams are back in action tomorrow afternoon. Saint Rose will visit Georgian Court, located in Lakewood, N.J., for a 2:00 pm non-conference match. The Red Devils continues CACC play at Dominican. First serve is slated for 12:00 pm.

Notes: Saint Rose, picked ninth in the NE10 preseason coaches' poll, is coming off its first postseason appearance since 2015…Ceriello began the night as the league leader in digs per set (5.67)…Schweitzer was named the NE10 Player of the Week on Tuesday…She recorded 3.62 kills per set and 4.75 digs per set in two contests last week…Coming into tonight's match, Archie averaged an NE10-best 1.04 blocks per set.
