LATE RALLY PUSHES STONEHILL PAST SAINT ROSE

NORTH EASTON, Mass. – Host Stonehill struck twice in the final 19 minutes to upend The College of Saint Rose 4-3 in Northeast-10 Conference action this afternoon. The Golden Knights (8-4-1/4-3-1 NE10) never trailed throughout the opening 71 minutes and manufactured an 8-4 shots-on-goal advantage and a 4-0 corner kick differential only to be denied their fourth road win of the year.

Skyhawks (4-8-1/2-5-1 NE10) senior midfielder Keegan Nutt tied it 3-3 by converting a penalty kick with 71:40 gone by and then accounted for the game-winner at the 86:23 mark.

Freshman midfielder Hilmar Halldorsson scored twice and senior midfielder Niv Fogel set up a pair for the Golden Knights (8-4-1/4-3-1 NE10) who have now suffered back-to-back setbacks for the first time all season following Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Assumption. Sophomore midfielder Filippo Bellú; also scored, while sophomore midfielder Simari Smith had an assist as well.

Saint Rose bounced back from a 1-0 deficit by scoring a pair just over a minute apart midway through the first half as Fogel set up both Halldorsson and Bellu.

Senior forward Mackenzie Hoglund squared the match 2-2 in the initial six minutes of the second stanza, before Halldorsson made it 3-2 Golden Knights. The lead stood up for eight minutes, before Nutt converted his PK and delivered the game-winner.

Looking ahead, both sides have 4:00 pm conference matches Saturday. The Golden Knights return home to take on Bentley, while the Skyhawks travel to Rindge, N.H. to face Franklin Pierce.
Notes: Saint Rose is #8 in this week's United Soccer Coaches East Region Poll…Bellu has scored a goal in five of the last six games…Nine different players have found the back of the net for the Golden Knights this autumn.
