#11 SAINT ROSE STRIKES FOUR TIMES TO UPEND UPSTATE CHALLENGE RIVAL LE MOYNE

ALBANY, N.Y. – The College of Saint Rose scored twice in each half and generated a 13-5 shots-on-goal advantage to upend visiting Northeast-10 Conference and Upstate Challenge rival Le Moyne 4-1 on a rain soaked pitch tonight. The Golden Knights (11-1-1/7-1-1 NE10) had four different players find the back of the net and junior keeper Marika Laurendeau recorded four saves to lead the charge.

Senior forward Nina Predanic had a goal and an assist and freshman forward Olivia Boucher set up a pair of strikes to propel the offense. Senior midfielder Eva Frazzoni, senior back Deanna Trongone, and senior forward Caitlyn Dabagian also scored.

Predanic struck a mere 16 seconds in when she ran onto a Boucher pass in the middle of the pitch and delivered a soft touch from some 20-yards out that bounced a few times before sneaking inside the lower far-right post. Frazzoni then redirected a rebound at the six-yard mark off a Boucher blocked drive to make it a 2-0 game at halftime.

The Dolphins (1-11-1, 0-9-1 NE10), seeking their first win since the season-opener, momentarily made it interesting when junior back Erica Wasserbach drove a free kick from 30-yards out on the right flank into the top left-corner at the 52:32 mark.

However, Trongone again afforded Saint Rose a two-goal advantage when she lined a deflected ball home from just inside the area with 68:23 elapsed. Nine minutes later, Dabagian one-timed a feed off the left end line from Predanic.

Going forward, both squads have road NE10 matches Saturday. The Golden Knights have a key 2:00 pm meeting at #24 Southern New Hampshire in Manchester, while the Dolphins have an 11:00 am date at Bentley in Waltham, Mass.
Notes: Saint Rose is ranked #11 in this week's United Soccer Coaches National Poll…The Golden Knights are also the top ranked side in the East Region for the sixth consecutive week…Senior midfielder Morgan Burchhardt notched her 100th career point during Saturday's 3-1 win versus Daemen to put herself in the company of only seven other players in school annals, including Predanic who tonight moved into third place all-time with 113 points…She needs five more to jump into second place past Sydney Bond (2010-13)…Saint Rose is the nation's lone squad with a pair of 100 point scorers…Furthermore, Laurendeau notched her 40th career victory tonight…She is only the third player in program annals to pull off that feat…Laurendeau paces the NE10 with a .852 save percentage and a 0.68 goals against-average on the year…Predanic leads the league with 33 points and 13 goals…She and Burchhardt were both named to the NE10 weekly honor roll yesterday…The Golden Knights have outscored their foes 38-9, including 21-2 in the first half…They entered tonight with the country's 15th best record despite playing the eighth toughest schedule.
Upstate Challenge: Le Moyne and Saint Rose announced the formation of the Upstate Challenge rivalry series in the fall of 2011. The two schools square off in 17 sports in which they compete head-to-head in the regular season or during the NE10 Championship. The winner of the series is awarded the "Upstate Challenge" trophy. The competition originally included 14 sports, but grew to 16 at the outset of the 2014-15 season after the Dolphins added track and field programs. It expanded to 17 in 2016-17 with the addition of women's golf. The all-time series stands at 4-1-3 in favor of Le Moyne.
