BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - The College of Saint Rose handed Bridgeport its first home loss of the season with tonight's 3-2 (25-20, 25-23, 11-25, 16-25, 15-11) non-conference victory.

Vanessa Volpe-Rivera. "We played as a team and worked together. Our serve receive and blocking won the match for us."
Senior outside hitter
Stevie Schweitzer led the Golden Knights (9-11) with 13 kills. Junior middle hitter
Kyla Archie, the Northeast-10 Conference blocking leader, added 12 kills and six total blocks, while junior middle hitter
Anna Maggiolo tossed in nine kills on .316 hitting and four total blocks.

Valeria Jorge dished out 19 assists, and freshman setter
Allison Sellers distributed 15 helpers. Senior libero
Tina Ceriello, the NE10 leader in digs and digs per set, topped all participants with 33 digs, while senior defensive specialist
Madison Gerace elevated ten Purple Knight attacks.

Bridgeport (18-5) had four players with double-digit kill totals. Senior outside hitter Morgan Knight and sophomore middle hitter Amanda Keller registered 13 kills apiece to lead the way. Senior outside hitter Amanda Hennemann chipped in with a double-double of 12 kills and 22 digs, while junior defensive specialist Klein Johnson contributed 27 assists and 10 digs.
The Golden Knights charged out to a fast start, using an 11-2 run to get out to a 16-8 first set advantage. Bridgeport responded, trimming its deficit to four, 21-17. Saint Rose, who hit .419 in the frame, capitalized on some Purple Knights miscues and a pair of Maggiolo kills to seal it.
Down 20-17 in the second set, the Black and Gold reeled off a 5-0 run to gain control of the stanza. Saint Rose then survived a pair of deadlocks, including at 23, to go up 2-0 in the match.
Bridgeport got off the mat in the third set, getting out to leads of 6-1 and 15-3. The Purple Knights, which hit .333 to avoid the sweep, broke open a tight fourth stanza with a 7-1 run.
In the decisive fifth set, Saint Rose got out to a quick 6-1 advantage, only for Bridgeport to tally the next six points. Junior middle hitter
Victoria Fogg and freshman outside hitter
Elizabeth Johnson then recorded kills to snap an 8-8 tie. Fogg and Johnson added another kill each down the stretch to help hold off Bridgeport.
Looking ahead, Saint Rose hosts Northeast-10 Conference rival Adelphi on Saturday at 1:00 pm. Fans unable to make it to Albany can watch the match on the
NE10 NOW Network. Meanwhile, Bridgeport returns to the court on Tuesday when it welcomes Queens College (N.Y.) for a 7:00 pm East Coast Conference clash.
Notes: Saint Rose, picked ninth in the NE10  preseason coaches' poll, is coming off its first postseason appearance since 2015…Ceriello has conference-bests of 385 digs and 5.51 digs per set…Archie sits atop the NE10 with 1.15 blocks per set...Schweitzer made Tuesday's NE10 weekly honor roll…She registered 3.71 kills and 3.29 digs per set last week, and recorded a double-double of 18 kills and 10 digs vs. AIC (10/8).
