WEST HAVEN, Conn. - The College of Saint Rose struck twice in the opening 22 minutes to upend host Northeast-10 Conference rival New Haven 2-1 this afternoon.
"This was a good win on the road against an organized and well coached New Haven team. I thought we had some very good spells of possession and did enough to walk away with three points," said head coach
John Ciano.
Sophomore midfielder
Filippo Bellú finished in the opening 11 minutes and freshman forward
Hilmar Halldorsson struck with his team-leading fourth strike of the year off a feed from senior midfielder
Niv Fogel at the 21:59 mark for what proved to be the game-winner.
Senior midfielder Kledis Capollari brought the Chargers (2-5/0-4 NE10) to within one with six minutes remaining, but they could not manufacture a shot-on-goal the rest of the way.
Looking ahead, both sides have NE10 matches Saturday. The Golden Knights host Southern New Hampshire at 4:00 pm, while New Haven has an 11:00 am meeting at Stonehill in Easton, Mass.
