SAINT ROSE MAKES IT SIX IN A ROW

Vanderwall scores 23 on 8-of-13 shooting

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Senior guard Ashley Vanderwall scored 20 of her game-high 23 points after intermission as The College of Saint Rose earned its sixth-straight win with tonight's 62-53 Northeast-10 Conference victory at Saint Michael's.

Vanderwall went 8-of-13 from the field, including 6-of-9 from beyond the arc, in the road triumph. Junior guard Courtney Clasen chipped in with 11 points.

"This was a great win against a scrappy Saint Michael's team," said Head Coach Karen Haag. "We really took care of the ball and grabbed some important rebounds late. We did a great job at the foul line (14-for-17), which was the difference in the game."

Senior guard Emily Ferreri led Saint Michael's (5-8/1-7 NE10) with 15 points. Junior guard Brianna Purcell tossed in 13 points, while junior forward Taylor Miller added 12.

Saint Rose (10-4/3-4 NE10) held the Purple Knights scoreless for more than five minutes en route to a 16-9 lead after the opening period. The Golden Knights, on the strength of a 12-for-14 performance at the foul line, entered the locker room up 35-24. Clasen topped all players with nine points in the first half.

The visitors used an 11-3 run to go up 16, 54-38, with 2:14 left in the third quarter.

Saint Michael's began the fourth quarter with a 6-0 run to make it a 54-47 game with 6:29 remaining. Vanderwall quickly followed up a made runner by knocking down a trey to get the advantage back to double digits.

NE10 play continues Saturday at 1:30 pm. Saint Rose will host No. 10/17 Bentley. Fans that are that are unable to make it to Daniel P.
