GOLDEN KNIGHTS SUFFER OT SETBACK AT SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE

MANCHESTER, N.H.-The College of Saint Rose suffered an 88-85 overtime setback at Northeast-10 Conference rival Southern New Hampshire tonight. The game was close throughout with 10 ties and 14 lead changes. However, the Penmen (10-6/6-5 NE10) shot 53.7 percent (29-for-54) from the floor and outscored the Golden Knights 21-7 from the free throw line to chalk up their fifth win in the last six games.

Saint Rose (7-11/4-7 NE10) held a six point, 67-61, lead with 3:39 remaining in regulation after sophomore guard Adam Anderson drained a jumper. Southern New Hampshire responded by outscoring the Golden Knights 10-4 the rest of the way to force the extra session. Saint Rose had a pair of looks wrapped around a timeout in the final four seconds of regulation, but could not get one of them to go down.

Freshman forward Sekou Sylla then scored the first basket of overtime to afford the Golden Knights a 73-71 advantage, but senior guard Charlie Russo knocked down a 3-pointer with 3:58 showing on the clock and the Penmen never trailed again.

Senior forward Matt Cerutti finished with 20 points and nine rebounds, while senior guard Shane Herrity wound up with 17 points, seven boards, and five assists to lead Saint Rose. Sekou and junior guard Michael Wearne added 14 and 13 points respectively. The former also hauled in 13 boards.

Meanwhile, senior guard Daquaise Andrews filled the box score with 24 points, seven rebounds, and a like number of assists to propel Southern New Hampshire. Junior forward Eamonn Joyce finished with 22 points, behind 7-for-11 shooting from the floor, while junior swing Shawn Montague and junior forward Ryogo Sumino added 14 apiece.

Going forward, both teams have 3:30 pm conference road games Saturday. The Golden Knights travel to Worcester, Mass. to face Assumption. The game may be viewed live on NE10 NOW, while live stats are available HERE. Meanwhile, the Penmen head to Springfield to take on American International.
Notes: Cerutti has been in double-figures in 13 consecutive contests…Anderson was named to the NE10 weekly honor roll Monday…Sylla recorded his fourth "double-double" of the year tonight.
